NOVA COLLECTION VOL.3 SUMMER FANTASY

Two weeks ago, my friend Jasa and I attended the NOVA Collective fashion show to see our best friend Yasmeen walk. It took place in Sanford in what I can only assume is some sort of event venue. The theme this season was a complete 180 from their last season's Crimson Eclipse show in January. Crimson Eclipse had a very dark and edgy vibe, hence the name. But last night's show was bright, colorful, and summery, thus creating Summer Fantasy.

Paying $30 for a ticket was a bit pricey compared to last season's ticket price, but to see Yasmeen walk, no price is too high, of course.

Starting off with the overall look and feel, there was a modern take on the 2000s beach look, which is very popular now with Zara Larsson's bedazzled shirts and fun, bright, colorful looks. Using summer as a sort of escape from our very drab reality.

The event was decorated with leis, surfboards, and a large backdrop with the NOVA name spray-painted with rhinestones, similar to the shirts you see on the beach pier or like Zara Larsson wears. With all the orange, pink, and purple lights, it created a very warm atmosphere.

Heading into the outfits, I did have some favorites. Mainly stemming from the women, the first model, Ashmey Hernandez, came out in what I'd say is one of the best outfits of the night, covered in flowers and vines, and of course, the beautiful afro she sports. It gave me a sort of Mother Nature vibe, which, as a nature person myself, I will always be a fan of.

And of course, Yasmeen Aamar came out like a beautifully golden sunset gracing the catwalk, with bouncy curls and using a color palette that blended in nicely with the vibe of the room. You can honestly tell that the stylist puts very careful consideration into every model with the small details.

I honestly wish I was able to observe the outfits for a bit longer. With the runway being smaller due to the limited space and the fast pace of the music forcing the models to walk faster to keep up with the music.

For the men, I cannot dress a man to save my life, I will be completely honest. But I did notice that a lot of the men's outfits took on a more vintage resort wear style. Each stylist seemed to have their own style that you could recognize with each model. For example, the men with that vintage resort wear seemed to be styled by the founder Marc Bijelic.

But one of the male models, Pedro Angel, did have an outfit I was a huge fan of, showcasing a sort of beach bum skateboarder look. My favorite was the spray-painted shirt mimicking the backdrop, accompanied by a skateboard prop. I love any sort of props to the max.

They did do something different to highlight all the production crew that put so much hard work into the show, with Marc giving a speech on the appreciation he has for his team, which was a nice touch. To tie the entire show up, every model came out with their designer, which was different from the last show and a detail that I definitely enjoyed more.

Although the show was a bit shorter than the last, it was full of so much bright and fun energy. I'm on the edge of my seat to see the next NOVA Collection volume.
